Introduction

' Varesa is a plunging focused electro DPS. Her playstyle is very fun with the potential for high damage. She has a unique mechanic with her energy, being able to use two different types of elemental bursts. If you want to play Varesa, it is highly recommended that you invest in building Iansan as well.

Gameplay

Fiery Passion

Fiery Passion is an alternative way to describe Varesa's Nightsoul Blessing state. Varesa is unique in comparison to other Natlan characters because she can gain Nightsoul points through her plunge attacks, in addition to her elemental skill and burst. She is also the only character in the game who can enable a plunge attack without a skill or burst (or falling) involved - Varesa's charged attacks launch her into the air. When using Varesa, you will want to use charged attacks in your combo in order to plunge.

Elemental Skill: Riding the Night-Rainbow

With footwork swift as lightning and fierce as thunder, Varesa displays the true spirit of the lucha libre, rushing forward and dealing Nightsoul-aligned electro damage. Varesa's skill has two charges and gains an additional charge when entering her Fiery Passion state. Varesa's tap and hold skill are different, you will typically only want to use the tap skill for combat and hold skill for exploration.

Elemental Burst: Glory Vent!

Leaps into the air before using the momentum of the drop to unleash a powerful flying kick, dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Electro damage to opponents, restoring her nightsoul points to maximum, and entering the Fiery Passion state. Varesa has two different elemental bursts. Glory Vent! takes more energy and is considered elemental burst damage, while Apex Drive has no cooldown, takes about half as much energy, and is considered plunging damage. Apex Drive can be used after completing a plunge attack in her Fiery Passion state, and is a more optimal choice.

Passives

A1 Passive: Plunging multiplier increase. Increase is greater if she's in Fiery Passion.

A4 Passive: 35% attack increase based on Nightsoul bursts. 2 stacks but can only realistically get 1 in 90% of teams. Not worth fishing for the second stack.

Artifact Sets

Artifact Sets DPS% Description

4pc Long Night's Oath

115.3% Her signature set that offers a lot of damage %, but barely outperforms codex

4pc Obsidian Codex

115.2% Good for all Natlan DPSs, but Varesa is at risk of overcapping on crit rate and it has some downtime

2pc Oath, 2pc Atk%,
2pc Codex

100% Can be used while farming a full set, but it's a significant damage loss

As Varesa's burst does a significant amount of damage and helps maintain her Fiery Passion state, it is recommended to build enough er to be able to use Apex Drive twice per rotation. Varesa ascends with crit rate which can make Codex difficult to build around. If using a crit rate weapon, Night's Oath is highly recommended. Attack goblet can perform okay on Night's Oath

Weapons

Weapon name DPS% Description

[R1] Vivid Notions

127% Gives attack and a lot of crit dmg

[R1] Kagura's Verity

106% Elemental damage bonus and crit dmg

[R1] Lost Prayer

105% Not recommended with codex. Gives crit rate, movement speed, and elemental damage bonus

[R1] Tome/[R1] Surfs Up

105% Crit dmg stat sticks

[R5]Widsith

100% 2/3 of the passives are helpful, 1 is useless

[R1] Crane's Echoing Call

98% Helpful passive but the lack of crit hurts

[R5] Flowing Purity

93% Attack % & elemental damage bonus

Constellation

Constellation C0% Description

C1

112% Increased Plunging Attack multiplier both in and out of Fiery Passion state and of the Apex

C2

135% Enters Apex Drive after Plunging Attack regardless of Fiery Passion state. Restores energy after plunging. 3 more apex's, higher fieldtime but it's worth for the damage gain

C3

145% +3 Burst levels. Decent damage increase

C4

163% Good on paper, but doesn't work well with combos. Good for nuking

C5

174% +3 NA levels. More valuable than C3

C6

242% Energy restoration on small burst cast, crit rate and crit dmg increase, nightsoul point restoration for exploration. Increased field time but its worth for the damage gain

Teammates

An electro teammate is highly recommended in order to help with Varesa's energy, running her as solo electro or a team that cannot enable electro resonance results in a significant damage loss.

Electro

Iansan

Varesa's best teammate. Flat atk, scroll holder, with cons can give atk % and additional dmg %

Ororon

Scroll holder, atk % at c6. That's about it

Fischl

Better than solo electro

Overload

Chevreuse

Best team archetype even without c6. Res shred, atk%, dmg % at c6

Mavuika

Strong personal damage and on field dmg % buff

Bennett

Big atk buff and healing. Need to switch to mid fieldtime to keep up res shred, about equal to Mavuika in team damage

Xiangling

Off field application and okay damage. Extends rotations

Xianyun

Xianyun

Best option outside of overload. Potent flat dmg buff and healing, VV is inconsistant and her kit doesnt synergize with varesa super well so she ends up being a lot worse DMG wise

Furina

Decent personal damage and teamwide dmg %

Xilonen

Res shred, healing, a bit more atk % via her a4 passive but its still not 100% uptime unless you swap to Xilonen mid fieldtime. A lot worse than Furina but still okay

Cope Options

If you're struggling to make a team, you should have either Chevreuse, Mavuika, Furina or Xianyun, at least one of them. In that case, you should pair that character with Varesa and Iansan and some other support who is a flex slot, for example: Varesa Iansan Furina Jean, Varesa Iansan Mavuika Xilonen
