Introduction

Columbina is an off-field hydro sub DPS who focuses on dealing and buffing lunar reaction damage. She is a flexible unit, able to slot into most teams that offer strong geo, dendro, or electro application, but she performs best when paired with a lunar DPS or another off field lunar character. Columbina can function as a lunar-bloom DPS if desired, but this is really only viable with Lauma and it is recommended to use her off field to supplement damage instead.

What are Lunar Reactions? : Lunar reactions are special hydro reactions that can only be enabled when limited 5 star “Moonsign” characters are within the team. As of Luna IV, Flins and Ineffa can enable lunar-charged, Lauma and Nefer can enable lunar-bloom, and Zibai can enable lunar-crystallize. Columbina can enable all 3. Each of these reactions behave differently and will be elaborated on later in the “Teams” section, but placing Columbina with characters and elements that allow for lunar reactions to occur are essential to her performance.

Gameplay

Elemental Skill - Eternal Tides

Deals AoE Hydro DMG and summons a Gravity Ripple. Gravity Ripple follows the active character and deals AoE hydro damage every 2 seconds. Additionally, lunar damage dealt by teammates or reaction damage helps accumulate “Gravity”. Every 6 seconds, Kuuvahki Interference will activate and deal lunar damage of the type that accumulated the most Gravity. This lunar damage will be dendro, electro, or geo depending on the lunar reaction(s) present in the team. All lunar damage dealt by Columbina as well as the hydro damage from her skill scale off her max HP.

Elemental Burst - Moonlit Melancholy

Temporarily transforms the surrounding terrain into Lunar Domain, dealing AoE Hydro DMG. This domain is similar to the one provided by Nahida's burst, and within the domain all allies are provided with a lunar reaction damage bonus. This domain lasts for 20 seconds and costs 60 energy with a 15 second cooldown.

Passives

A1: Columbina gains 5% crit rate for 10 seconds when Kuuvahki Interference occurs, stacking up to 3 times. After one rotation, Columbina maintains 15% crit rate from this passive. Combined with her crit rate ascension, Columbina has approximately 40 crit rate without weapon or artifact substats.

A4: Each lunar reaction triggered within the lunar domain gains a unique buff. These will be further detailed within the team section.

Lunar Passive: Increases base Lunar Reaction damage for all lunar reactions based on Columbina's max HP. The maximum increase is 7% and Columbina needs 35k HP to max this out. Columbina also increases “Moonsign” level, which is a racist passive that Nod Krai units and Zibai have. Two Moonsign characters allows for much higher damage or buffs for most Nod Krai characters, although Columbina specifically has no Moonsign bonus; it is only meaningful to her when using Silken Moon Serenade.

An HP sands may be used if adequate energy can be generated without an ER sands. ER 160-250 (Depending on weapon) > 35K HP > CR > CDMG > EM

Energy on Columbina: Due to being an off field character with no particle generation on skill cast, Columbina has suffered a similar fate to Furina: very high energy cost. This is amplified by the fact that Columbina is typically solo hydro in her teams and thus has no teammate supplementing hydro particles. As irritating as it can be to build energy recharge on a character when all you want to do is stack damage stats, energy is essential to Columbina and should be prioritized.

    There are a few ways to make building energy on Columbina easier:

  • Use weapons that provide energy. Both Columbina's signature weapon and Prototype Amber provide energy through their passive. Favonius is always an option.

  • Use Silken Moon's Serenade. The 2pc provides ER which makes it much easier to focus on damage substats.

  • Use an ER sands. Seeing low HP on Columbina sucks. Not bursting sucks worse. Just use an ER sands.

Teammates

Lunar Bloom

In the most technical sense, lunar-bloom is not a reaction (fuck lunar-bloom) as lunar-bloom reaction damage is only dealt through direct talent damage from Nefer, Lauma, and Columbina. The aspect of lunar-bloom that makes it a “reaction” is its ability to generate Verdant Dew. Verdant Dew is a resource that can be consumed by lunar-bloom characters to deal lunar-bloom damage. As long as blooms are consistently triggered, 1 Verdant Dew is generated every 2.5s.

Columbina helps with lunar-bloom by allowing it to generate an additional Verdant Dew every time one is acquired, up to 3 every 18 seconds. These special Verdant Dew can be used by any character who can use a normal Verdant Dew, but it is typically recommended to use them on Lauma to increase the stacks of her burst buff.

Lauma

Premium bloom support. Off field dendro application, flat dmg to blooms and lunar-bloom, res shred to hydro and dendro, 10 cr and 20 cdmg to lunar-bloom dmg

The premier Lunar-bloom DPS who deals high personal damage through her charged attacks








Lunar Charged

Unlike lunar-bloom, lunar-charged is a real reaction a reaction that all team members can contribute to. Lunar-charged has two damage types: direct lunar damage and reaction lunar damage. Direct lunar-charged damage can only be dealt by Flins, Ineffa, and Columbina, but any hydro, electro, or even anemo character can contribute to lunar-charged reaction damage.

Lunar-Charged reaction damage is dealt through thunderclouds that appear on the field following a reaction between hydro and electro. Typically, thunderclouds deal damage every 2.5 seconds, but with Columbina there is a 33% chance to deal an additional instance of damage each time. Lunar-charged reaction damage scales off elemental mastery and crit.

Lunar Crystalize

Lunar-crystallize functions similar to lunar-charged in that it is a reaction that all geo and hydro teammates can contribute to. Lunar-crystalize no longer creates crystallize shards, and instead allows crystallize reactions to form “Moondrifts”. These Moondrifts replace the pathetic sustain offered by crystallize shards with something actually valuable: damage! Up to three Moondrifts can be formed and after lunar-crystallize triggers 3 times, each Moondrift will deal damage once.

Columbina's buff to lunar-crystallize is adding one more hit per set of 3 hits on average. Lunar-crystallize reaction damage scales off elemental mastery and crit. Lunar-crystallize, like the other two lunar damage types, also has direct damage which can only be dealt by Zibai and Columbina (and on Sandrone release she will deal lunar-crystallize damage and be bis support for her wife Columbina amen)

Lunar-crystallize buffer, provides flat dmg to the on field geo character, geo crit rate and crit dmg

Other

Aino

Aino is mostly replaced by Columbina in the teams she has seen play in, however her c6 lunar damage % buff can still be useful for teams that don't have a concrete 4th unit.

Jahoda

Combines healing, VV, and +1 moonsign level into 1 team slot. Also has strong lunar crit buffs for Nod Krai characters at c6.

Ineffa

Outside of pure Lunar-Charged teams, Ineffa and Columbina as a pair can be slotted into nearly any team and “wheelchair” due to their strong synergy. Together they offer high damage, buffing, and sustain.

On Field

Columbina can be played as an on-field DPS if desired. Columbina's best archetype as an on-field DPS is Lunar-Bloom, as she has a unique charged attack that can consume Verdant Dew to deal Lunar-Bloom damage. Lauma is highly recommended for this team due to the sheer amount of buffs she provides to Lunar-Bloom. While on-field, Columbina has significantly lower ER requirements and can use the Night of the Sky's Unveiling. Her ER req can get as low as 110% in double hydro, but up to 170% in solo hydro. It is typically recommended to build between 120-130% ER and play her in double hydro (Aino is a good choice). Due to Columbina's pre-existing crit rate ascension and passive, you will need to be mindful to avoid overcritting with the 4pc Night Sky's crit rate.
